   Refining

RefiningCITGO's network of state-of-the-art refineries transforms raw energy (in the form of crude oil) into the energy products Americans need. From the gasoline in your car to the asphalt paving the nation's highways to the petrochemicals used to manufacture literally thousands of household goods, CITGO is there.

As we manufacture these products, CITGO's top priorities are safety and environmental stewardship. We continuously make the necessary investments required for safe and environmentally sound operations. We live by this simple philosophy: "We operate as a privilege in every community where our refineries are located, and not as a right."

To provide the energy needed to fuel our nation's economy and the American way of life, CITGO owns or operates deep conversion refineries strategically located in Texas, Louisiana and Illinois.

Not only is CITGO's refining network among the safest, most environmentally sound and sophisticated in the nation, it's also among the largest. CITGO directly owns or operates 749,000 barrels per day of refining capacity. Taking into account CITGO's parent company, Petróleos de Venezuela (PDVSA), and its participation in several joint ventures, we have an effective refining capacity of more than 1.1 million barrels per day.

Fuels Refining

CITGO's refineries produce a wide range of conventional and reformulated gasolines to meet the needs of marketers and retailers. Our refineries produce 117 million barrels of gasoline, 61 million barrels of distillates and 25 million barrels of jet fuel per year.
