Title sponsorship of Triple Crown Weeks programming on the ESPN networks, including advertising units in all 23 scheduled "Triple Crown Weeks" programs;
Sponsorship rights on the ESPN.com horse racing page;
Title sponsorship of and advertising units in "CITGO Wire to Wire", a weekly horse racing show with multiple weekly reruns on ESPN2;
Advertising units in the 17-program Road to the World Thoroughbred Championships television series on the ESPN networks;
A special NTRA media package that includes multiple commercial units on horse racing programs airing on NBC and other national networks; and
Title sponsorship of a yearly, multi-market, consumer horse racing promotion to be created and executed by CITGO.
"We are delighted to not just extend, but greatly enhance, our longstanding relationship with CITGO through this integrated marketing package," said Chip Campbell, senior vice president of television and sponsorships for the NTRA. "Thanks in large part to this impressive five-year commitment to horse racing by CITGO, fans nationwide will continue to see the best our sport has to offer on a year-round basis."
"CITGO is proud to become an Official League Sponsor of the NTRA," said Don Rucks, manager of advertising/consumer marketing and special events for CITGO. "As evidenced by television ratings, corporate involvement, media attention and other factors, thoroughbred racing is clearly on the rise and CITGO wants very much to continue to be a part of the upswing. This package provides a bundle of media benefits that we find both highly desirable and cost effective."
The NTRA is a broad-based coalition of horse racing interests, including the American Quarter Horse Association, charged with increasing popularity of horse racing and improving economic conditions for industry participants. The NTRA and Breeders' Cup Limited also conduct the Breeders' Cup World Thoroughbred Championships, thoroughbred racing's year-end championships consisting of eight races and $14 million in purses and awards, and the Breeders' Cup Stakes Program. The NTRA has offices in Lexington, Ky., and New York City. NTRA press releases appear on the NTRA Web site, www.ntra.com.
