Sulphur, La. – Nov. 30, 2012 – The Second Annual CITGO Fire & Spice Chili Cook-Off, benefiting United Way of Southwest Louisiana, took place earlier this month at CITGO Park, where 15 cooking teams competed for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place Competition Chili, and raised $8,948. 

The Fire & Spice Chili Cook-Off was the finale´ event for the CITGO/United Way 2012 Employee Giving Campaign. This campaign season, including proceeds from the Chili Cook-Off, CITGO and its employees raised a grand total of $593,527 for United Way. 

Teams represented at the Chili Cook-Off included local industry and businesses throughout Southwest Louisiana. Also judged during the Chili Cook-Off were People’s Choice Chili, Best Team Costume and Best Table Decoration. Judges included elected officials, local celebrities and public figures. 

Chili Cook-Off Teams were represented by CITGO; Albemarle; Brand Energy Solutions; Business Health Partners; Chemical Waste Management; Drago Supply; GRACE Davison; Jeff Davis Bank; Performance Contractors, Inc.; Plant Performance Service (P2S); Praxair, Inc.; Ron Williams Construction, Inc.; Sage Environmental Consulting; Savoy Technical Services, Inc.; Turner Industries Group, L.L.C. and Westlake Chemical. 

Chili judges included, Dr. Neil Aspinwall, Sowela Technical Community College Chancellor; Bryan Bateman, Women & Children's Hospital Chief Executive Officer; John Bridges, KPLC Co-Host of 7News Sunrise; Chris Duncan, Mayor of Sulphur; Danny Dupre, Sulphur Fire Chief; Bill Hankins, West Cal Cam, CEO; Joan Hebert (Stevens), Southwest Daily News; Mark Herbert - Senator Mary Landrieu, Regional Manager; Jill Landry - Senator David Vitter, Southwest LA Regional Coordinator; Jon Manns, PPG Works Manager and United Way Chairman of the Board, Hal McMillin, Calcasieu Parish Police Jury; Keith Murray, Lake Charles Fire Chief; Carol Ponthieux, Mayor of Iowa; Patricia Prebula, President of Prebula Public Relations, LLC and 2012 United Way Campaign Chair; and Randy Roach, Mayor of Lake Charles.
