CITGO Employees “See the Need and Take the Lead”

Donating more than $620,000 to United Way SWLA

Sulphur, La. – January 15, 2015 – CITGO Lake Charles Refinery employees recently gave more than $620,000 to United Way SWLA. The funds were raised by employees during the 2014 CITGO United Way, “See the Need and Take the Lead” campaign.

CITGO Employees are generous contributors to United Way every year and CITGO continues to be the largest benefactor of the organization, contributing more than $12.7 million since 1975. Because of their generosity, CITGO employees were able to contribute 15 percent of the United Way’s entire SWLA region goal of $4 million, supporting needs represented in Southwest Louisiana through the holiday season and into the New Year. All contributions go directly to United Way and help run the 31 United Way agencies and 57 programs in Southwest Louisiana that make a huge difference in the quality of life for people in our community.

CITGO Vice President & General Manager Tomeu Vadell said the generous spirit and the heart of CITGO employees to fuel good in the Southwest Louisiana community is undeniable. “Our employees prove every year though their generosity to United Way what matters to them the most – making the most of every opportunity to support our community,” Vadell said.

CITGO Lake Charles employees see the need and take the lead, fueling good by giving back to our community and helping people get the resources they need for better lives. From promoting educational opportunities to increasing access to quality health care and so much more, we’re improving lives in Southwest Louisiana. Thank you, CITGO Lake Charles employees, for giving to the 2014 CITGO United Way campaign. Our employees, salaried and hourly – supported by four bargaining units – were essential in helping CITGO LCMC reach its goal. We would like to say thank you to:
