Sheboygan, Wis. – Feb. 23, 2015 – On Feb. 21, CITGO and Quality State Oil  hosted Miss Wisconsin, Raeanna Johnson, at Sheboygan area gas stations as part of the annual CITGO Q Mart Shamrocks Against Dystrophy fundraiser. The fundraiser, which began on February 1 and runs through St. Patrick’s Day on March 17, will benefit the children of the local Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) chapter.

“The money raised by CITGO and Quality State Oil will help children suffering from muscular dystrophy in communities across Wisconsin,” said Johnson. “I am honored to work with local businesses like these that make such a great effort to help their neighbors each year.”

Johnson will sign autographs for anyone who makes a $1 or $5 donation to the MDA by purchasing a paper Shamrock at CITGO Q Mart convenience stores in the Sheboygan area. On February 21, she was on hand at the CITGO Q Mart store at 1006 Geele Avenue in Sheboygan, the 415 Broadway Street CITGO Q Mart store in Sheboygan Falls and the 300 Fond du Lac Avenue CITGO Q Mart store in Sheboygan Falls. Additional CITGO Q Mart stores across the region will also host raffles and giveaways throughout February and March as part of the fundraising effort.

“For 25 years, CITGO and Quality State Oil have supported the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Together, we have donated $1 million to children and families in Wisconsin living with muscular dystrophy,” said Scott Stangel, wholesale marketing manager for Quality State Oil. “With Reanna’s help, we hope to surpass our $33,000 fundraising goal for this year’s Shamrocks Against Dystrophy campaign.”

Johnson was joined by MDA State Goodwill Ambassadors Jacob Smith, Ally Naze, Myranda Gereau and Devin Argall, who shared how they live with muscular dystrophy and how funds donated to the MDA make a difference for children and their families across Wisconsin.

Muscular Dystrophy is a group of diseases that cause muscle loss and progressive weakness. While there currently is no cure for muscular dystrophy, the MDA is working to defeat the disease and support those afflicted by it through worldwide research programs, comprehensive services and public and professional educational programs. Funds raised by CITGO and Quality State Oil will help pay for Wisconsin children affected by muscular dystrophy to attend the local MDA summer camp, support MDA research and provide children with physical therapy consultations.
