COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

The employees at the Lemont Refinery have a long history of giving back to their community through volunteering their time and charitable giving. Through TeamCITGO, employees have volunteered thousands of hours supporting local charitable and community programs. For decades, Lemont Refinery employees have come together to make a difference in the community, whether it is replenishing their local food pantries, or helping with clean up efforts each year at the Shady Oaks Camp for people with disabilities.

Lemont Community Employees Volunteering

Since the 1970’s, we have supported the United Way of Will County through our annual employee giving campaign, corporate donations, and various fundraising events. We support the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) by holding fundraisers each year including the annual Golfing for a Cure event. We also support the Multiple Sclerosis Society by participating in the annual Bike MS: Tour de Farms. Additionally, through our CITGO STEM Innovation Academies and community outreach with local schools, we encourage students to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and math.

ENVIRONMENT, HEALTH & SAFETY

The Lemont Refinery is committed to safety and environmental stewardship. We are proud of the industry leadership position we have attained and continue to be recognized year after year with numerous safety awards. We strive to improve the water and air quality in our community through process improvements and projects.

Each year, we participate in Lemont’s Household Recycling Event helping them collect materials such as motor oil, antifreeze, and flammable liquids for proper recycling and safe disposal. The Lemont Refinery also holds an annual Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day for employees, diverting thousands of pounds of materials from landfills each year.
