Newtown, Conn. – April 14, 2015 – With shovels in hand, representatives from local CITGO Marketer Consumers Petroleum and Newtown township recently broke ground on a new Wheels Convenience Store and gas station at 67 Churchill Road in Newtown, Connecticut, just off of I-84. Special guests from the township included First Selectwoman Pat Llodra, Director of Planning George Benson, Economic Development Coordinator Betsy Paynter and Vice Chair of the Economic Development Commission Elana Bertram, along with Consumers Petroleum Chairman Rich Wiehl and General Manager of Construction and Facilities Jim Lantowski.
“Our goal is to provide consumer-friendly convenience stores and gas stations,” said Rich Wiehl, chairman of Consumers Petroleum. “We’re planning every detail of this brand new location with that goal in mind. From the convenience offerings and food service inside the store to the CITGO TriCLEAN gasoline outside at the pump, this will be a location that supports our local community and delivers a first-class customer experience.”
Expected to open before the summer driving season begins, the new CITGO-branded Wheels location will feature Wheels-branded, made-to-order food service, in addition to an array of convenience items in the 3,400 square foot store. The location is right off Interstate 84 with six fueling positions available to motorists.
“We’re very proud to see Consumers Petroleum and Wheels Convenience Stores adding another CITGO location in Connecticut,” said Alan Flagg, assistant vice president of Supply and Marketing for CITGO. “Our brand fits nicely with the Wheels stores that are so well-known in this area, and it’s exciting to be part of a new, flagship location.”
“In keeping with our motto, ‘We Care Where You Go,’ this new site is the perfect complement to our existing location just down the road,” Wiehl continued. “Whether you want full service to get on your way or need lunch and a few groceries, you can find both options on Church Hill Road in Newtown.”
