Racine, Wis. – May 3, 2015 – Local Racine children can pick out a free book this Sunday, May 3 when Bess the Book Bus stops at Trinity Lutheran Church & School at the corner of Goold and Marquette St. from 11:30PM-1:30PM.

Bess the Book Bus is a mobile literacy outreach program founded in 2002 by Jennifer Frances in honor of her grandmother, Bess O'Keefe. Frances now travels the country in the bus, handing out free books to children who have never owned a book of their own to help spread the joy of reading.

“Giving back to the community where we have been located for the past 25 years is at the center of our business model,” said Mitch Wemmert, vice president of Mitch & Marty’s CITGO. “Education is fundamental to the success of future Racine generations. Through innovative programs like Bess the Book Bus we can take steps towards instilling a love for reading at a young age and preparing children for a lifetime of learning.”

CITGO Petroleum Corporation is one of the main sponsors of Bess the Book Bus as part of its larger Fueling Good initiative, designed to give back to the communities the company serves through local civic and charitable engagement.
