CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Aug. 3, 2016 – For more than 50 years, Charlie’s Place Recovery Center, one of Texas’s largest nonprofit, residential drug and alcohol treatment centers, has helped thousands of people suffering from drug and alcohol addiction rebuild their lives. To further the center’s work helping patients overcome addiction, CITGO Petroleum Corporation is again sponsoring the Charlie’s Place “A Night in Vegas” fundraiser. Funds raised from this year’s event, which will be held August 20 at the American Bank Center, will go toward patient care.

“Thanks to ongoing support from CITGO, we’ve not only transformed a hotel into a comprehensive addiction recovery facility, but we’ve also transformed addicts’ lives,” said Amy Granberry, CEO of Charlie’s Place. “‘A Night in Vegas’ helps raise awareness of the challenges facing our patients, and the funds donated during this event go toward helping them overcome them.”

In addition to sponsoring “A Night in Vegas,” the CITGO Corpus Christi Refinery has been a long-standing partner of Charlie’s Place, boosting the recovery center’s work through volunteer efforts. Since 2009, CITGO employees have donated more than 2,000 volunteer hours to the organization. This includes time spent moving Charlie’s Place to a larger facility, which allowed the recovery center to accommodate up to 2,200 patients every year. Partly in recognition of this work, the Texas Homeless Network named CITGO Corporate Partner of the Year.

“As a Charlie’s Place partner for 13 years, we’ve had the opportunity to see the remarkable difference it makes in the lives of the people it serves,” said CITGO Corpus Christi Refinery Vice President and General Manager Art Klein. “Through our support of ‘A Night in Vegas,’ which always proves to be a wonderful evening, we are proud to help Charlie’s Place in its efforts to improve the lives of its patients and their families.”

“A Night in Vegas” – Charlie’s Place’s largest annual fundraiser – features Las Vegas-style acts and food from local restaurants. To purchase tickets for the benefit and to find additional information about sponsoring the event, visit www.charliesplaceonline.com.
