CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – May 16, 2025 – CITGO Corpus Christi Refinery (CCR) celebrated another successful fundraiser for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA), proudly sponsoring the 34th Annual MDA Golf Tournament on April 14 and 15. Building on the momentum from a record-breaking event in the fall of 2024, the event this year raised more than $688,000 for MDA. The funds will go toward the organization’s mission to accelerate research and support families affected by neuromuscular diseases.

Since the inception of this event, more than $4.7 million has been raised for MDA. “We are fortunate that our employees, vendors, and sponsors support the MDA Golf Tournament every year in such a strong way,” says Ryan Vining, Vice President and General Manager of the CITGO Corpus Christi Refinery. “The growth of this event is a testament to the belief that we all have in the life-changing work of MDA and the empowerment it provides to families who are hopeful for new research, treatments and breakthroughs.”

MDA is marking 75 years of impact and advocacy by continuing its commitment to progress. Through the longstanding partnership between CITGO and MDA, events like the golf tournament raise critical funds that have resulted in real results, says Amanda Konopka, Account Director of Corporate Partnerships for MDA. “Our work has led to historic advancements in genetic research, improved diagnostic methods, and the development of groundbreaking therapies that once seemed beyond reach.”
