SULPHUR, La. – Dec. 9, 2025 – In recognition of Homelessness Awareness Month, the CITGO Lake Charles Refinery donated $15,000 to Sulphur Christian Community Coalition (SC3) in support of its Hope Refuge program, which provides critical services to individuals experiencing or at risk of homelessness in Southwest Louisiana.

This latest contribution brings the refinery’s total 2025 support for SC3 to $40,000. Earlier this year, CITGO donated $15,000 for Hunger Action Month to fund SC3’s Hope at Home meal kit program, along with an additional $10,000 to support other community initiatives throughout the year.

To kick off Homelessness Awareness Month, TeamCITGO assembled and distributed cold weather bags filled with essential items to help those in need stay warm in the coming winter months. SC3’s Hope Refuge program offers a comprehensive range of services to meet the needs of the unhoused, including meals, access to showers and seasonal supplies, connections to housing and recovery resources, counseling services, and more.

“Our partnership with SC3 reflects our deep commitment to addressing urgent needs in our community with respect and care,” said Sterling Neblett, CITGO Vice President and General Manager of the Lake Charles Refinery. “By supporting the Hope Refuge program, we’re helping to deliver critical services that provide both immediate relief and long-term solutions for those experiencing homelessness.”

SC3’s Executive Director Joanne Coleman emphasized the impact of the donation: “CITGO’s continued support allows us to meet people where they are and walk alongside them toward stability and hope. Their investment in our mission allows us to offer basic necessities and housing assistance to some of the most vulnerable members of our community.”
