SULPHUR, La. – October 23, 2025 – In recognition of Hunger Action Month, the CITGO Lake Charles Refinery contributed $15,000 to Sulphur Christian Community Coalition (SC3) in support of its Hope at Home program – an initiative that provides weekly meal kits to families facing food insecurity in Southwest Louisiana. SC3’s Hope at Home program is a lifeline for families in Sulphur and surrounding areas. Each week, families receive a meal kit filled with fresh and shelf-stable ingredients, a recipe card, and a handwritten note of encouragement. More than just a meal, the program inspires families to cook and dine together, nurturing connection and togetherness around their own tables.
In September, TeamCITGO volunteers kicked off the program at SC3 by assembling meal kits and serving lunch for the Hope at Home program families. “In addition to the meal kits, our donation will support monthly classes in meal prepping and budget-conscious grocery shopping,” said CITGO Vice President and General Manager Sterling Neblett. “We believe in strengthening our community through targeted contributions and hands-on volunteerism.”
“SC3’s mission is to create transformational change through authentic neighborhood relationships and strong coalition partnerships,” said SC3 Executive Director Joanne Coleman. “Thanks to CITGO’s support, we are empowering families with the skills, tools, and confidence to prepare affordable, nutritious meals at home. As a result, the knowledge we share has the potential to create generational change and ultimately impact more than 20,000 people in our community.”
This contribution is part of CITGO Petroleum Corporation’s broader $90,000 commitment to hunger relief efforts in the communities where it operates.
