Nurturing a Path for Opportunity
Our STEM Talent Pipeline program aims to increase access to Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) related educational opportunities by supporting and encouraging students to pursue STEM degrees and career prospects, so they can become a qualified pool of job candidates to join the CITGO workforce.
Launched in 2016, the program seeks to meet the following objectives:
The program provides grants to schools and educational organizations near our operational areas including Houston headquarters and our three refineries in Corpus Christi, Texas, Lake Charles, Louisiana, and Lemont, Illinois. We also provide scholarships for students pursuing higher degrees in STEM fields.
Renewing Community Building
CITGO offers grants to non-profit organizations that are dedicated to community development and revitalization in the South Bronx.
Since 2007, our efforts have helped change more than 211,000* lives by training thousands of residents to become civically engaged in community change. We have offered grants to numerous non-profit organizations committed to social development in the South Bronx, New York, the poorest congressional district in the United States. These organizations provide services in the areas of education and social investment, health, empowering communities environmental protection, conservation and restoration, and arts and culture, all with the common goal of improving the living conditions and outlook for the region's residents.
*Direct and indirect beneficiaries as reported by grantees.
Empowering Students in the Pursuit of Education
We proudly support higher education opportunities for students pursuing degrees in engineering, mathematics, computer science, business and related studies.
Our goal is to encourage young adults keen to develop careers that have a direct impact on their communities.
Additionally, we provide scholarship opportunities to deserving high school students who are dependents of CITGO employees and retirees. Under this scholarship program, each CITGO scholarship recipient must meet rigorous qualification criteria and be at the top of their class.
CITGO believes in the value of providing premier, educational classroom opportunities through comprehensive STEM programs across the nation. Our goal is to provide educators with tools they can use to inspire the next generation of leaders to make a positive impact in their communities. Together, we are creating new ways to help solve tomorrow’s problems by fueling students with skills for lifelong success. Learn more about this initiative at FuelingEducation.com.
