Vice President of Supply & Marketing

Karl Schmidt was named Vice President of Supply & Marketing in February 2019. He has more than 30 years’ experience in the petrochemical and refining industries, starting his career as a process engineer for Lyondell at its Houston refinery. Karl joined CITGO in 1995 and has held numerous roles in the corporate office and at the Lake Charles manufacturing site pertaining to process engineering, economic optimization, strategic planning, capital projects, operations management, terminals and pipelines and most recently as Assistant Vice President of Supply and Marketing.

Karl holds a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering from the University of Texas and a master’s degree in business administration finance from the University of Houston’s Bauer School of Business.
