In 2023, the Simón Bolivar Foundation signed 25 grant agreements, providing charitable assistance to an estimate of more than 281,722 beneficiaries in need

HOUSTON , September 12, 2024 -- Simón Bolívar Foundation Inc., CITGO Petroleum Corporation´s 501(c)(3) nonprofit, private foundation, released its 2023 Annual Report today. The Foundation’s mission is to improve the health of vulnerable individuals affected by disaster, conflict and poverty, with special attention to children and mothers in and from Venezuela.

In 2023, the Foundation committed $7.6 million to high impact and NGO grants. “Over the past four years, we have built a network of qualified charitable organizations to which we have granted funds for implementing programs in Venezuela and the region. The Foundation continues to support projects by trusted partners who have successfully delivered, demonstrated an ongoing need for their work, and can absorb additional funds,” said Mariela Poleo, President of the Simón Bolívar Foundation.

In addition to Venezuela and the United States, the Foundation is currently implementing charitable projects in seven other countries in the Americas, providing nutrition and healthcare support to vulnerable individuals.

“We are continuing to strengthen the Foundation's strategic partnerships with established charitable organizations. The support is reaching populations in need, and the grant agreements being implemented are very encouraging,” said Pablo Perez Barreiro, Board Member of the Simón Bolívar Foundation.

This is the fourth year the Foundation has published an annual report, demonstrating its ongoing commitment to transparency and good corporate governance.
